Saint Gemma Galgani was born in 1878 in a small town near Lucca, Italy. As a young lady, she had a great desire to become a nun and enter the cloister, but God had other plans for her. On June 8, 1899, Jesus and Mary appeared to her in a vision and she received the stigmata on her hands and feet. Reading this story can encourage us to follow in the footsteps of Saint Gemma, whose great love for Jesus allowed her to receive many special graces from the Lord when she accepted His Will for her life.
