This text presents a basic survey, from a Catholic perspective, of the discovery and settling of the new world as well as the growth of the colonies into a new nation. The period covered in the text is from the time of the Norse explorations of North America through the American War for Independence. The textbook, How Our Nation Began, is a Lepanto Press reprint of an older Catholic text, with photographs, illustrations, maps and diagrams that will assist the teacher and aid the student in their comprehension of the materials.

This is an optional text for the Beginner Level which is included in the last portion of Volume Three and will continue into Volume 4.
