The
Great Adventure: A Journey Through the Bible
now re-named
A Quick Journey Through the Bible
The Connecting With History syllabus has been structured
to correspond to the time periods following the Old
Testament salvation history included in the Great Adventure:
Journey Through the Bible program and timeline developed by
Jeff Cavins. The Great Adventure presents an overview of the
Bible following the main characters and events of the Old
Testament chronologically to convey the Big Picture of
salvation history.
We highly recommend that you use this series and timeline in
the introductory week of Connecting with History with
students in grades 6-12 and then review the individual
segments throughout the school year. If your students are
younger you will still want to view the program yourself in
preparation for teaching your children.
This program is also available in a format made specifically
for teens:
T3: The Teen Timeline
Note: although we highly recommend the Great Adventure to
our Connecting with History families, we do not require it -
Connecting with History stands alone!
For those
families who are on a stricter budget but would still like
to learn more about understanding Scripture through the eyes
of the Church we recommend:
Making
Senses Out of Scripture: Reading the Bible as the First
Christians Did by Mark Shea
Where We Got the Bible: Our Debt to the Catholic Church
by Bishop Henry Graham
You Can Understand the Bible: A Practical and
Illuminating Guide to Each Book in the Bible by Peter
Kreeft
All of
these fine resources are available through
St. George Catholic Books and Gifts
